Old Gray Cemetery

Old Gray Cemetery is just the kind of place one would expect to be haunted. It is a huge cemetery located just off Broadway Avenue in Knoxville. Started in 1850, Old Gray Cemetery is the final resting place of many prominent members of Knoxvillian History, including noted newspaper editor William G. "Parson" Brownlow, and a host of mayors. It's registered as a national historical site.

Little is known of the nature of the haunting. It appears similar to the haunting that occurs at nearby First Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The reports are that there is a "black aggie" which roams about the graves at night. Many people claim to have seen it. Why it roams about remains a mystery. Is it some lost soul who failed at something in life and now is trying to make amends, or is it all just a hoax? No one really knows, and I doubt that no one really wants to know!
