Chronicling the unexplained in the Volunteer State.

me and my father went there back during the summer. while we were there one of the church deacons told us the TRUTH about it. he said that the red stuff coming from the mausoleum was just chemicals from cleaner that some cleaners used. the type of cleaner they used reacted differently to the marble. i just thought that i would share this with you all.
I've lived in Cleveland, TN about all my life. I've never heard anything like the theory you stated.
Well, they love big tall tales in Cleveland, TN, and in Murfreesboro, TN as we know so well from the witch trail pre divorce hearing in Murfreesboro, TN... Where Carrie Scoggins (an ordained Christian minister) is falsely accused of astral projection and witchcraft in a child custody battle... And it does not end there... They drop the assault charges against her husband due to claims of this being her religion... And then the cops send informants to all of her jobs filled with lies that she practices voodoo and witchcraft, and even go so far as to falsely accuse Carrie Scoggins of 'drinking blood.' What a thing for a real minister of Christ to suffer!!! No wander the ACLU took the case and she is going to sue (and win). They ruined her name, stole her jobs, and left her broke and with out any friends... They broke many laws in the process, and not just libelous slander and defamation of character, but other laws as well.Just good ole' fashioned freedom of religion, because... Even though she is not a witch, what if she was new age? She is not, but if she was would it make it legal for them to have taken custody of her child, drop assault charges against her x husband, and ruin her name on the job by recruiting employees to record her without her knowledge all while spreading the lies about her? Cleveland, TN, and Murfreesboro, TN is as low brow as those that conducted the Salem witch trial... A place where toothless red necks wear a badge, and run the gavel...I feel for the Libertarian party, since she heads that up. It could be just another political game being played, but most likely not... Just more uneducated, unprofessional, back woods bubba's with a badge at work!

Keep up the great work. It very impressive. Enjoyed the visit!
I was a member of ST. Luke's where the Mausoleum is located. I have been in the mausoleum and can tell you that the red stuff on the marble is the marble itself. It was a wide spread tell when we were growing up that the red spot over the door was the girl's blood, but once you get up close, you can see that the marble is red, brown, white and other mixed colors inside and out - even on the surrounding side walks. Hope this clears up the mystery. I wish I knew who the deacon was that said it was cleaner.
I work one block from the mausoleum, though I like a good ghost story as well as the next person, the rust colored staining is nothing more than a natural occurance with some marble.
I have lived in cleveland my entire life, and at the age of 17 me and my friend decided to research and see if we can prove it wrong. The marble that the architect used is now outdated and not used anymore, because....and pay attention... it was known to rust a crimson red color...key word, RUST!!!.....check it out for yourself, the architect did all the statues and things in historic downtown...
