Edwards Admits Affair

August 9th, 2008 at 14:34

After much speculation and lies, John Edwards has admitted to having an affair on his wife who is dying of cancer, but denies that he fathered a child. The story was first reported in the National Enquirer.

This is particularly ironic (not to mention tragic) given some of Edwards’ previous statements. In December 2007 he told Katie Couric it was appropriate to judge a candidate by whether or not he honored his marriage vows. He also had this to say back in 1999:

“I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.”

I sometimes wonder if people pay attention to what comes out their mouths. Edwards now has plenty of time to try to make things right with his family, as political career is over.
